Car perfume vs car freshener: what is the difference?

The short answer
A car freshener is usually a gel, clip or hanging card that releases scent on its own and fades. A car perfume is a concentrated fragrance you spray when you want it, usually onto fabric. Car perfume gives more control and can be used at home too; fresheners need no effort but fade quickly.
How are they different?
| Car freshener (gel, clip, card) | Car perfume spray | |
|---|---|---|
| How scent is released | Passively, all the time | When you spray it |
| Strength over time | Strong at first, then fades | Even: you top up when needed |
| Where it sits | Vent, dashboard or mirror | In the glovebox; sprayed on fabric |
| Other uses | Car only | Wardrobes, linen, gym bags |
Which should you choose?
Choose a freshener if you want something you never think about. Choose a car perfume if you want to choose the scent, set the strength and avoid anything mounted on the vent or dashboard.
Forwills makes car perfume sprays: the six-scent Mood Range and the four-scent Classic Range.
Frequently asked questions

No. Car perfume is made for surfaces and fabric. Do not spray it on skin.
Can car perfume damage the dashboard?
Do not spray the dashboard, instrument screens or polished trim. Spray the mats and seat fabric instead.
