Long lasting car perfume: what actually makes the scent stay

The short answer
A car perfume lasts longer when it is concentrated, sprayed on fabric rather than plastic, and used in small doses. Heat and sun speed up evaporation, so store the bottle out of direct sunlight. A 50 ml Forwills Mood Range bottle lasts four to six weeks at two sprays at a time.
Why does car freshener fade so fast?
Most fresheners carry very little fragrance. Gels release most of it early, and cardboard hangers give off their scent fastest on day one. Heat inside a parked car speeds this up.
How do you make car perfume last longer?
- Spray fabric, not plastic. Mats and seat backs hold scent; hard trim does not.
- Use less, more often. Two sprays, then wait until the scent softens.
- Store it cool. Keep the bottle out of direct sun and heat.
- Air the car first. Old smells compete with new scent; open the windows for a minute before spraying.
How long does one bottle last?
| Product | Size | Routine | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mood Range car perfume | 50 ml | Two sprays, one each side | 4 to 6 weeks (as printed on the pack) |
| Classic Range car perfume | 50 ml | Set by number of sprays | Depends on how many sprays you use |
Frequently asked questions
Does heat affect car perfume?
Yes. Heat speeds up evaporation. Store the bottle away from direct sunlight and heat, as the pack instructions say.
How many sprays should I use?
Two: one on the mat on each side of the cabin. Add more only if the scent has softened.
Which lasts longer, a gel or a spray?
A gel releases most of its scent in the first week. A spray lets you add scent when you want it, so a bottle is used as slowly or quickly as you choose.
